STEM Success in Bridgend: Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers
A series of engaging STEM workshops and industry visits have successfully inspired learners across Bridgend, thanks to support from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund.
EESW’s Introduction to Engineering and Manufacturing programme ran from January to March, building on the strong foundations of previous initiatives in the area. Over the course of the programme, 14 in-school workshops were delivered, giving pupils hands-on experience and a practical insight into the world of engineering and manufacturing.
In addition to classroom-based learning, students also had the opportunity to take part in three industry visits, offering a valuable glimpse into real working environments. These visits were made possible with the support of Sony and Bute Energy, whose involvement helped bring the subject matter to life and connect learning with real-world applications.

The programme aimed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and highlight the diverse career pathways available within engineering and manufacturing. Feedback from both students and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the interactive nature of the workshops and the inspiration gained from seeing industry in action.
EESW extends its sincere thanks to Sony and Bute Energy for their continued support and commitment to developing future talent. Their contribution has played a key role in ensuring the programme’s success.
With STEM skills more important than ever, initiatives like this continue to make a meaningful impact, equipping young people in Bridgend with the knowledge, confidence, and ambition to explore careers in engineering and beyond.
