Welsh Teams Celebrate Success at UK National STEM Racing Finals
Welsh students have achieved outstanding success at this year's UK National STEM Racing Finals, demonstrating the talent, creativity and resilience of young people from across Wales.
Leading the way was Ysgol Cynwyd Sant, Maesteg, whose team delivered an exceptional performance to be crowned UK National STEM Racing Champions, securing one of the most prestigious titles in the competition.
There was further success for Wales in the secondary competition, where Branwen from Ysgol Bro Edern received the Project Management Award, recognising the leadership, organisation and teamwork skills that are vital to success in STEM Racing.
Meanwhile, Silver Racing from St John's College, Cardiff secured an impressive third-place finish overall, earning a place on the national podium and qualifying for the STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore later this year. The team will now represent Wales on the global stage against some of the world's best young STEM talent.

These
achievements are particularly significant given the challenges faced by the programme over the past year. The withdrawal of Welsh Government funding shortly before the start of the season created uncertainty around the future development of STEM Racing in Wales. Despite this setback, schools, students, volunteers and industry supporters came together to ensure the programme could continue, with Welsh teams once again proving they can compete with the very best in the UK.
STEM Racing provides students with hands-on experience in engineering, design, project management, marketing and teamwork, helping to develop the skills needed for future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
As EESW STEM Cymru congratulates everyone that has contributed to this year's successes, registration is now open for the 2026–27 STEM Racing season. Schools across Wales are encouraged to enter teams and give their students the opportunity to take part in one of the UK's most exciting STEM enrichment programmes.

To support the continued growth of STEM Racing in Wales, EESW STEM Cymru is also seeking new event and programme sponsors. Businesses and organisations interested in inspiring the next generation of engineers, innovators and problem-solvers are invited to get in touch to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
Congratulations to all the Welsh teams who competed in this year's National Finals, and best of luck to Silver Racing as they prepare to represent Wales at the World Finals in Singapore.
