Inspiration and Innovation as EESW 6th Form Project Concludes 2025–26 Season

The 2025–26 EESW 6th Form Project season concluded in style this April with a highly successful Awards and Presentation Day (APD) held at the Great Hall on the Bay Campus of Swansea University. The event brought together students, teachers, engineers, sponsors, and industry representatives from across South Wales to celebrate an outstanding year of innovation, creativity, and engineering achievement.

Over the past six months, Year 12 students have worked in teams on a wide range of real-world engineering challenges, supported by professional engineers and industry mentors.  The South Wales APD provided students with the opportunity to showcase their hard work and present their projects to assessors, guests, and fellow participants, highlighting the impressive technical ability, teamwork, and problem-solving skills developed throughout the programme.

A total of 62 teams from schools and colleges across South Wales took part in this year’s programme, making it one of the largest and most successful events in recent years. The atmosphere throughout the day reflected the enthusiasm, confidence, and dedication shown by students across the region.

The achievements of the participating students were recognised through a series of sponsored awards presented during the event. Congratulations to all of this year’s South Wales winners:

The South Wales celebration followed an equally successful North Wales APD held earlier in the season at the Conwy Business Centre in Llandudno, bringing another fantastic year for the EESW 6th Form Project to a close across Wales.

Across Wales, 83 teams participated in the 2025–26 project.  From the Welcome Events in the autumn term through to the final presentations in March and April, students benefited from hands-on experience that helped develop valuable transferable skills including teamwork, communication, project management, presentation skills, and creative problem-solving.

The programme also continues to make an important contribution to professional development within the engineering community. As a CPD-accredited initiative, the project provides certification opportunities for teachers, engineers, company representatives, and volunteer assessors in recognition of the expertise and support they contribute throughout the season.

EESW would like to extend sincere thanks to all the schools, colleges, universities, companies, organisations, volunteer assessors, sponsors, funders, and partners whose continued support makes the project possible and helps inspire the next generation of engineers in Wales.

Most importantly, congratulations to every student who completed a project this year. The energy, commitment, and creativity shown by all participants have made the 2025–26 season one to remember, and we hope the experience has inspired many future careers in engineering and technology.

Planning is already underway for the 2026–27 EESW 6th Form Project, and we would be delighted to hear from schools, colleges, companies, and engineering professionals interested in getting involved. Whether by supporting a student team, providing a project brief, sponsoring an award, or volunteering expertise, there are many ways to help shape the future of engineering in Wales and support the next generation of young engineers.
