EESW Project 2023-24 - Meet Our Award Winners!

Congratulations to all 70 teams from across Wales who participated in the EESW Project 2023-24.

This year, 19 teams from North Wales and 51 teams from South Wales completed the Project and took part in the EESW Awards and Presentation Day events. The North Wales event was held at Venue Cymru, Llandudno on Wednesday 13th March and the South Wales event took place for the second year at Swansea Arena, on Friday 22nd March 2024.

These events marked the culmination of six months of work and dedication from the participating teams. Commencing with their initial meetings with their Link Companies at the Welcome Events held in October, the journey progressed to the teams presenting their final solutions in March. During the March events, students showcased their projects and prototypes, which underwent assessment by a panel of volunteer judges, who had been sent their written reports in advance. All competing teams had the opportunity to be nominated for a cash award of £500 in a range of categories. In addition, the events were enriched by the presence of a variety of exhibition stands, facilitating student engagement and discussions on career prospects. Exhibitors included Ifor Williams Trailers, Toyota, University of South Wales, Aston Martin and CSA Catapult alongside hands-on STEM activities delivered by the EESW Team in Swansea.

We would like to extend a thank you to all of our sponsors who made the running of these events and the EESW Project possible. We would also like to thank the link companies and engineers, teachers, assessors and exhibitors – their support has been instrumental in the success of the scheme, which has now been running for 35 years.

Finally, a big congratulations to all the students involved this year! The calibre of projects presented was remarkably high, making the assessment task extremely challenging for our volunteer judges and award sponsors.
