EESW STEM Cymru win the STEM Educational Programme of the Year (Not for profit)

EESW STEM Cymru win the STEM Educational Programme of the Year (Not for profit) at the Wales STEM Awards 2022

The Wales STEM awards 2022 took place at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel on 27th October. The event shines a spotlight on the organisations and individuals making a difference to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) agenda in Wales. Finalists from across all parts of Wales competed for 12 awards in a variety of categories. The Wales STEM Awards congratulates organisations creating an impact on the Welsh economy, addressing the STEM diversity gap and skills shortage, and inspiring and raising aspirations of the next generation. The awards celebrate individuals, companies, charities, and not-for-profits leading the STEM sector in Wales.

EESW STEM Cymru were honoured to have been nominated for the STEM Educational Programme of the Year (Not for profit) and the other companies that were nominated in this category are all doing amazing work in the world of STEM in Wales. The Darwin Centre delivers hundreds of hands-on field trips and experiential workshops engaging over 3000 participants every year. STEM Untapped create podcast series dedicated to matching under-represented girls with a STEM role model of their choice and Xplore working with Wrexham County Council to create and deliver workshops to children that encourage them to understand the environmental impacts of their decisions.

STEM Untapped were chosen by the judges for the highly commended in the category and EESW STEMCymru were chosen as the overall winner. We were ecstatic to be the winners of this prestigious award and would like to thank the Wales STEM Awards for a fantastic evening and our congratulations to all the other winners and nominees.

“The awards show that the future of the STEM sector in Wales is bright, and we look forward to the industry going from strength to strength.” - Head judge Dr Louise Bright, founder of the Wales Women in STEM network
